On one early morning,
It seemed all was quiet.
Little did the children of Elderville know
There was soon to be quite a riot.
Young Allie woke up that summer morn
Rubbing the sleep from her eyes.
She found a note on the dining room table
Much to her surprise.
Dear Allie, Im sorry that we had to go
But there was an emergency out of town.
Mind your brother and dont give him trouble.
Well be back soon so dont you frown.
Her parents were gone and they knew her well
For the frown soon formed on her face.
Down the hall, up the stairs,
To her Josephs room she started to race.
She shook him until he woke from his slumber
And she showed him the note she had found.
His eyes opened wide with worry and fear
As he jumped up in a single bound.
He walked to the phone and dialed his friend.
After a few short words he hung up and said,
Every parent in town is missing right now.
And he tried to hide his dread.
Allie was shocked, but excited too.
This was a blessing, and a good one at that.
She quickly got dressed and brushed her brown hair,
Then rushed out the door to see her friend, Matt.
He was just as delighted as she
And they began making plans for the day.
They would eat candy and ice cream until they burst
And with their friends at the park they would play.
As their happiness grew, they couldnt help but wish
That their parents would never return.
This wonderful day would never end
And theyd be forever without worry or concern.
As lovely as this day had been,
They couldnt help but feel that something was wrong.
The bullies who tortured them were nowhere in sight,
But they could tell that wouldnt last long.
Their nagging fear was soon proved right
As the rotten crew soon came into view.
Pushing them down and calling them names,
Allie knew there must be something they could do.
But without adults to make them stop
It seemed that all was lost for her friends.
She called for more kids to help them out,
But the fighting didnt end.
It quickly grew into a full-blown war
Between kids and their enemy teens.
Until a powerful voice rang out in the air
And the battle slowed to a frozen scene.
The parents were back, displayed before them.
Allie never thought shed be happier to see
Her mother and father, strong and firm.
The bullies fled in an unheard of degree.
Allie hugged her parents tight and wouldnt let go
And refused to ask questions of where theyd gone.
All she cared about now was going home,
With a grin on her face and a tired yawn.
